Feel Free For Gluten Free's Donuts Are Award-Winning!



The UK's first frozen gluten and wheat free donuts have picked up an award in the prestigious Free From Food Awards 2015.

Free From food brand Feel Free For Gluten Free celebrated their success at the awards ceremony in London last night. 

The sugared ring donuts made the shortlist in the 'tea time' category, competing with products from larger free from brands and supermarkets. Feel Free For Gluten Free's delicious donuts were declared joint winners in the category.

Sally Allister, Managing Director of Feel Free For Gluten Free who has coeliac disease and must follow a gluten free diet herself, said:

“I'm still waiting for the news to sink it – it's beyond amazing for our small company!
“The Free From Food Awards are the Oscars of the free from world and recognise the very best in foods made for people with restricted diets. To have two products on the shortlist of 270 products was great for us, but for our donuts to win – particularly in a category that also included some huge national and international brands – is nothing short of fantastic.
“Our donut launch last September was without doubt a highlight of 2014 for our company. Our customers' reaction to them was genuinely overwhelming. To now receive an award for our donuts is definitely going to be among our 2015 highlights.”

Former chef Sally spent 15 months perfecting her gluten and wheat free donut recipe, which uses potato and rice starch. The result is a light and moist donut that many coeliacs and gluten-avoiders – for whom donuts aren't readily available – have compared to 'real' gluten-containing donuts.

The Free From Food Awards judging panel commented on how hard it is to find a gluten free donut and added that they have a “great texture” and are “delicious warm”.
Selby-based Feel Free For Gluten Free sell their sugared ring donuts in packs of four individually wrapped donuts – great for households with only one coeliac. The donuts are sold frozen and can be kept in the freezer for up to six months.

They're currently only available to order online through the Feel Free For Gluten Free website at www.feelfreefoods.co.uk/our-products. Feel Free For Gluten Free are working on securing a retail listing for them.

Feel Free For Gluten Free also supply their donuts to food service customers, giving them an alternative gluten free sweet treat to the ubiquitous chocolate brownie. The donuts are sold in packs of 12 individually wrapped donuts, which are easy to thaw and refresh and can be kept frozen for up to six months.

All of Feel Free For Gluten Free's products are free from gluten and wheat. Many are also free from other common food allergens including eggs, dairy and soya. Feel Free For Gluten Free's product range is wide and varied, with frozen ready meals, desserts, breaded fish and Indian snacks, a range of baking mixes, plus oat free granolas and pasta.
