British Food Fortnight Goes Global

British Food Fortnight goes global as Love British Food team up with online supermarket British Corner Shop to celebrate worldwide.

The organisers of the fortnight - the celebration of British produce that takes place in the UK each autumn - have joined with British Corner Shop to encourage ex-pats, travellers and others living outside of the UK to celebrate two weeks of Britishness in every corner of the world.

“British Food Fortnight runs between 19th September and 4th October 2015 and we want it to be celebrated on tropical beaches, on mountain-tops, in deserts and in city centres worldwide. We are encouraging people to organise British themed celebrations in British Embassies, in their places of work, in their homes and in their communities, and to share their plans and their photos via social media,” said organiser Alexia Robinson.

The initiative is working with the UKTI and British Embassy and is encouraging other Embassies and UK companies overseas to get involved.

Home comforts available from British Corner Shop will help inspire organisers and include favourites like jammy dodgers, cream crackers and crumpets – perfect for British themed tea parties, plus the retailer's chilled range is sourced directly and seasonally from the West Country of England - one of the UK's most dynamic and bountiful food producing regions.

"We're helping spread the awareness of this fantastic national event on an international scale – we want British food to be celebrated and supported worldwide. We know that some produce that can only be found in Britain is sorely missed by expats, so we erase the distance between those abroad and Britain's fine food," said Sophie Saint of British Corner Shop.

Whether you love experimenting with British-local fusion dishes or prefer traditional British tea and cake, the organisers want to hear about and see your efforts to keep British food alive overseas. Join in by tagging Love British Food and British Corner Shop into your plans on social media, and use the hashtag #BuyBritishFood.
