Dinner From Our Back Garden, 18th September At 6.30pm

Dinner From Our Back Garden, 18th September at 6.30pm as part of Urban Food Fortnight & in aid of St Mungo's Broadway Putting Down Roots

Dinner From Our Back Garden is an evening of fabulous fayre and delectable dishes. It is a celebration of local urban produce, all grown in London Bridge-based allotments, after countless hours of care and cultivation by the the Putting Down Roots (PDR) gardening project team. PDR is run by homeless charity St Mungo's Broadway and supports people's recovery from homelessness by providing opportunities to gain skills, qualifications and to progress into paid work or volunteering.

Team London Bridge, Putting Down Roots, The Table Cafe and Capital Growth will come together for this annual al fresco refection as part of Urban Food Fortnight, a feast of the fabulous local produce being grown, produced and cooked on our city's doorstep. The gardens and allotments in London Bridge play host to a plethora of fruit and vegetables from tasty tomatoes to the most magnificent of marrows, scrumptious red onions to the most palatable of potatoes!

The food will all be cooked on site at Melior Street Gardens by hailed local eatery The Table Café. On a daily basis The Table Café use herbs and vegetables from the London Bridge allotments and gardens tended by Putting Down Roots gardeners. The mouth-watering menu includes:

The Table's famous ranch burger with sweet pickled onions and pickled gherkins from the Melior Street allotment. Brioche bun made at the restaurant and beef from a small Welsh Black herd in Wales.

The Smokey Mountain mushroom burger grilled Portobello mushroom and smoked cheddar with baby spinach, heritage tomato, pickled red onion, and gherkin all from the allotment.

Condiment Table The Table Cafe will be showcasing a variety of produce they've been collecting from the allotment over the last few months including marrow chutney, pickled onions, a tomato and ginger chutney, damson jam alongside many more delicious additions.
