Top North East Chefs Join Distinctly Delicious Festival

CHEFS from one of the North East’s top hotels will be sharing the tricks of the trade at an exciting food festival taking place over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Distinctly Delicious – Darlington Festival of Food is running from May 24 – 26 in and around Darlington town centre with a packed programme of events from eat-and drink-along movies to workshops and street theatre.

And now a team of top chefs from award-winning Rockliffe Hall will be joining the activities, showcasing the skills usually confined to the hotel’s three, distinct restaurants.

Four chefs from the hotel will be demonstrating throughout the weekend – giving visitors an opportunity to experience what the acclaimed hotel has to offer.

Executive Chef Paul O’Hara will also be using his expertise to help judge the Distinctly Delicious Awards, where local providers have created new products specially for the event.

“It’s great for Darlington and the surrounding area that a food festival of this nature has been organised,” said Paul.

“And the team at Rockliffe Hall is looking forward to taking part and sharing their tricks of the trade.

“We’ll be showcasing the wide variety of dishes on offer at Rockliffe Hall from The Orangery, Spa Brasserie and The Clubhouse. There’ll be something for all palates with the emphasis on our tasty local ingredients and suppliers.”

The team from Rockliffe will be joining a whole host of chefs from local restaurants including Truffle and Foffano’s who will be demonstrating during the festival on both Saturday May 24 and Sunday May 25.
The event has been organised by Distinct Darlington, the town’s Business Improvement District.

“This is definitely going to be an exciting weekend,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington.
“And we are delighted to have Rockcliffe Hall’s team of expert chefs involved along with many of the other great chefs from the area.”

On Sunday May 25 food lovers and cinema goers can combine their passions with eat and drink along movies which gives viewers the opportunity to enjoy food and drink matched to what is taking place on screens.

The weekend will culminate in the Locomotion Cake Parade on Monday May 26, where the town’s link to one of the greatest moments in railway history will be celebrated – in cake.

Teams are being invited to take part by decorating their own cake carriage in the Market Square from 11am with a parade through the town planned for 2.30pm.
