New Indian Masterclass Adds Spice To Tideswell School Of Food

Curry lovers are in for a treat at one of the leading cookery schools in the North of England. The Tideswell School of Food, based in the Peak District, Derbyshire, has added a spicy new Indian Masterclass to its range of courses, hosted by Prett Tejura, founder of the award-winning Curry Cuisine Cookery School.

Driven by a desire to inspire Brits to move away from bland baltis and tasteless tikkas towards more authentic Indian cuisine that can be freshly made in the home, Prett, a passionate home cook, established her cookery school in 2007 in Yorkshire.  Prett was inspired by her Indian heritage and encouraged by her mother, who shared the secrets of her culinary expertise with her from an early age. Cooking has always been a way of life for Prett and for many years the family has developed traditional recipes with rich, aromatic flavours and explored the unique cuisine of the diverse regions of India.

The new Indian Masterclass, held onApril 28 2013 at Tideswell, promises to be a fun and vibrant experience of colours, aromas and tastes of fantastic Indian cuisine in a full day's course designed to teach the basics and more. Prett will teach visitors about essential spices, Indian herbs and ingredients, as well as how to make a mouthwatering masala sauce and cook up a range of dishes from starters to main courses and breads, demystifying the perception that Indian cookery is difficult. Course students will also be able to enjoy what they have cooked for lunch.

Curry Cuisine started withpersonalised cookery, providing one to one lessons in Prett's own home and has since developed to offer a full calendar of courses ranging from demonstrations and taster evenings to Indian Cookery Masterclasses.  The school was a finalist in last year's British Cookery School Awards and has also diversified to offer a retail range of chutneys, dessert sauces and jams.

Curry Cuisine differentiates itself from other specialist schools by introducing its customers to the broad range of regional dishes and to the different cultures with inspiring information, knowledge sharing, spice awareness and more, adding real value to its courses.  India is a very diverse country with a variety of distinct regional cuisines based on their own seasonal produce, spices, herbs, ingredients, culture and religion.  Prett loves nothing more than helping customers to explore and enjoy the subtle differences and different flavours of each region and discovering not only the secrets of Indian spicing, but also demystifying Indian vegetables and ingredients.

Kim Wathall of Tideswell School of Food said: "We work with a range of specialist chefs and cooks to bring a wide range of courses to our customers to suit all abilities and culinary interests. We are delighted to invite Prett to host an authentic masterclass to bring Indian cookery to life, as we know how popular Indian cuisine is in the UK.  It promises to be an enlightening day."
