Get A Little Closer At Close House Hotel This Valentine's Day




Close House Hotel, Northumberland's 18th century mansion, has revealed a Valentine's getaway offering 'loved up' couples the ultimate in luxury dining and relaxation. Set in the heart of the countryside with roaring fires and plush furnishings aplenty, Close House makes a truly romantic setting to escape with your loved one and unwind in style this February.

Available 14th until 16th February 2013, couples can enjoy an overnight stay in the main mansion house, a chilled bottle of champagne upon arrival and a three course evening meal in the opulent Argent D'Or restaurant from £135 per person.

Executive chef Simon Walsh focuses on contemporary cuisine with a traditional French twist, meticulously prepared using the finest, locally sourced ingredients. Special Valentine's dishes include 'Confit Duck Roulade, Chocolate & Blood Orange' and 'Roast Loin of Venison with Celeriac Puree & Red Wine Braised Salsify'.

For those wishing to cuddle up with a romantic film, Close House will be showing British comedy 'Love Actually' and American drama 'An Officer And A Gentleman', to be enjoyed with a plentiful feast of popcorn and 'pick & mix' confectionary.

Couples can also relax in the elegant Champagne Bar for a pre-dinner tipple or nightcap before retiring for a peaceful night's sleep. A full Northumberland breakfast will be served the following morning.

With 450 acres of private grounds to explore, two 18 hole golf courses in the resort and Newcastle city centre only a fifteen a minute drive away, guests will find plenty of ways to fill a memorable Valentine's getaway.

For those not wishing to stay overnight, there is an option to have a two course meal in the hotel's clubhouse No19 and enjoy the film night with sweet treats for only £40 per person.


Close House Hotel is an 18th Century Mansion which has been restored into a stunning 31 bedroom hotel. It is set in 450 acres of private grounds and lies within easy reach of all major motorway networks and national rail.

Argent D'Or

The Argent D'Or restaurant is located in the main house and is a place to enjoy sumptuous French cuisine with a British twist in beautiful surroundings. Executive chef Simon Walsh, who has also taken the reigns at No 19, is passionate about local, seasonal, and super-fresh food and is a huge supporter of Northumberland's small, independent and artisan producers. Argent D'Or is also open to non-residents, and in addition to the restaurant, the hotel boasts its own Champagne Lounge and Orangery for private dining events.

Situated in the hotel's Club House, No 19 offers panoramic views over the Tyne Valley and can cater for individuals or parties of up to 140. From light lunches to evening banquets, the restaurant serves contemporary British cuisine, with menus shaped by fresh and seasonal produce. Signature dishes include Locally Foraged Wild Mushrooms on Toasted Sour Dough, Slow Roast Belly of Pork, Chorizo Casserole, and Rice Pudding with Roasted Plums.
