Food Safari Launches New Courses In Derbyshire

     07 Dec 12
Food Safari, providers of food courses and workshops, is delighted to offer new courses in the Midlands. The Suffolk-based company has teamed up with Seasoned, the cookery school based in the beautiful grounds of the Catton Hall Estate in South Derbyshire

Food Safari’s programme of field to fork courses and tours of artisan producers expanded to London earlier this year and now branches out to offer butchery and cookery courses and wild food foraging at Seasoned.  Food Safari and Seasoned share a similar ethos of aiming to inspire people to cook with seasonal local food.

The new Derbyshire Food Safari courses include Game in a Day which will celebrate the best of British game from pigeon to partridge and duck to rabbit. During the course you will learn to prepare feathered and furred game for the oven, learn some inspiring new game recipes and enjoy a game lunch.

One of Food Safari’s most popular courses is wild food foraging and cooking. This will now be available in Derbyshire, starting with a guided foray around the Catton Hall Estate you will discover the wealth of edible wild food growing all around us in our gardens, hedgerows and woods. Back in the Seasoned cookery school you will learn how to cook the wild foods we found and prepare a wild food lunch.

There will also be a series of butchery workshops covering pork, beef and lamb. You will take home the meat you've prepared and enjoy a delicious supper showcasing the meat. The first course in February aims to revive the classic French technique of Galantine, deboning and stuffing a free range chicken.

More evening butchery workshops will follow in the New Year including lamb and pork.
