Tootoomoo Restaurant Creates Modern Folklore For Londoners

     26 Nov 12
A Pan Asian restaurant inspired by folklore tale of Tootoomoo and the shop houses of Asia launched on Friday 23rd November in Crouch End.

With Malaysian master chef Ricky Pang at its helm this exciting new concept in dining is a relaxed, colourful and joyful place to eat with an interior designed to create an authentic in store experience and a market place where customers can buy fresh ingredients to cook at home and also order dishes to take away.

And the folklore tale of Tootoomoo is brought to life by renowned street artist Milo Tchais who has been commissioned to design a mural depicting the tale of the little girl who tames the giant.

The team behind the restaurant are a dedicated group of foodies who love everything Pan Asia has to offer. They have come together with a goal to deliver fresh pan Asian food that is 100% natural, made to order, eat in, take home and affordable. The ingredients are the finest they can source and are fresh, healthy and honest, all crafted to the highest standard; an ethos which comes directly from  master chef Ricky Pang.

The inspiration for the store has come from shop-houses found on the streets of Asia and offers a  take-us-as-you-find-us environment. All the material used in the store design is reclaimed and creates a very raw, authentic, natural, rustic feel. The open kitchen with its smells of fresh food brings the atmosphere of an Asian street to the high street of Crouch End. They are creating an in-store experience that lets customers watch their food being prepared while they engage with the chefs.

Tootoomoo is the brainchild of Philip McGuinness who has chosen Crouch End to launch the restaurant as it's village atmosphere perfectly complements the ethos of the store. He says: "We're creating a slice of Asian street life in the heart of Crouch End and I am looking forward to sharing my passion for the flavours and vibe of the Asian street hawker markets with customers."

Ricky Pang has carefully crafted the menu to bring customers a delectable taste of dishes from Pan Asia, all the ingredients are available to buy in store to recreate the experience at home and a reasonably priced childrens menu at £5 ensures that the little ones are catered for too.

Mains include health giving Miso soup (£3.50), crystal banh trang rolls - rice paper wraps exotic fruit namh jim (£4.50) as well as hand rolled sushi and a warming beef randang, slow cooked curried beef, roasted coconut, candlenuts and new potatoes (£9.50).
