WELSH FLAVOUR COMES TO TASTE OF LONDON

16 June 2011

Foodies visiting the ‘Taste of London’ event will be encouraged to make
Wales their next culinary destination for a UK short break.

Food Tourism will be the theme of the Wales the True Taste Pavilion at the
festival, which will be held in Regents Park in the heart of the capital (16
-19 June).

Dubbed the ‘world's greatest restaurant festival’ Taste of London
features 40 of the city's best restaurants, who will be dishing up their
most popular dishes in an unbeatable alfresco gourmet feast, while 200
producers provide a bounty of the best food and beverages.
The Welsh Government organised True Taste Pavilionwill showcase a number of
Welsh food and drink festivals and food tourism activities as well as
sampling a range of award-winning produce.

Among them are: Gwledd Conwy Feast, The Great British Cheese Festival,
Abergavenny Food Festival, Narberth Food Festival, and theInternational
Craft Cider Festival.

The Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Award winning Teifi Farmhouse Cheese
and Welsh Whisky Company will be present and giving visitors the opportunity
to try their produce. They will be continuing the Food Tourism theme too as
visitors can also learn more about cheesemaking in the Teifi Valley and
whisky production at the Penderyn Visitor Centre.

Visitors will be able to try some world famous Welsh Lamb too, courtesy of
Hybu Cig Cymru-Meat Promotion Wales. HCCwill also be highlighting the Welsh
Lamb Club, a group of leading London restaurants dedicated to serving and
promoting quality Welsh Lamb. What a great idea for a UK short break.

At noon on Friday (June 17th) FrancescoMazzei, chef patron of L'Anima and a
founding member of the Welsh Lamb Club, will be talking about the
versatility of Welsh Lamb and also highlighting the number of club members
in London – which currently exceeds 50.
Also in the mix will be Wales Millennium Centre’s ffresh bar and
restaurant, which will be offering cocktail recipes devised especially for
the event featuring Welsh liqueurs and spirits. ffresh is the firstvenue in
the country to pilot a Wales the True Taste Partnership, recognizing its
commitment to sourcing and serving the best food and drink from Wales.

Another feature of the pavilion will be a daily quiz designed to test the
most ardent food lover’s culinary knowledge!

Also on the stand will be The Welsh Rarebits Collection to help would-be
visitors to Wales to find some of the country’s best, classic and
contemporary hotels.
