Entreating tips and ideas

If your are holding any party of any kind the thing you want to do is sit down and think of two things . One what kinds of party or event are you trying to have and second how much do you want to spend.

This might sound a little simple but I can assure you from years of working in the hospitality industry, people always know what they would like. But they never know how much it might cost. And when you are doing the planning and the catering you would be surprised how things can go spiralling out of control in just a few simple unplanned additions to the list.

Now to know how much it might cost you must know how many people are coming. More importantly who is coming. Now normally between my wife and me that is an easy thing to sort out as I have virtually no close friends, she invites who she wants and I go along with it. As Bev has a pretty good taste in friends then it is normally a good crowed. And by the time people start to arrive I have started to get in to the party mood with the odd sip or two of wine as I do the cooking then every thing normally gels fairly well.

But I digress. Once you have decided how many people you want to have round then plan what you want to do. Now the major thing to consider is the geography of the area that you are having you event in .Now if you have the space that it doe not matter how many people you invite then that is good. But normally it is restricted by the space that you have.

So now that you know how many people you want to have round and weather you can fit them in to the space that you have. Then you must know how much you have to spend. Now if you are clever and look around for the bargains in the shops a little money can go a long way. And as it is you who will be doing the work and paying the bills at the end you want your money to get the best that it can so think about what you are going to spend.

One grate tip for this is do not plan in advance what you are going to be doing. By that I mean what to see what is available before you plan a menu of any kind. This way you will get what is good that day or what is on offer. This also save you having to try and find that single thing, the mushroom or wine that you have said you would have and none of it is in the shops. Talk about stress of trying to find it and also wasting time looking when you could be preparing. Also it can save a lot of money if you do things like that. I remember just walking around a supper market and you see mangos reduced to clear. It’s a week to the party but you could make a mango sorbet today and freeze it down. So you can get thing and then plan what you are going to do.

And that is another benefit to such an approach to doing things in this way. The benefit of having thing done in advance. If you have more done in advance then you will have a better time your self safe in the knowledge that you have things ready to go.

So that is it , know for how many , how much you want to spend, do not commit to doing a set menu and try and get as much done in advance as possible.

But also I have found the best party is the one that never is planed. You just go with the flow and see what happens. Invite people who invite people and they all bring food and drinks and well that can be the best of all nights, I have found. Mind you other might disagree.
